Upon boarding the Celebrity Infinity for the Ultimate Disco Cruise, one is instantly aware that this is going to be not only a fun journey, but also an elegant voyage. The 2,170-passenger ship is beautifully designed and planned, centered on its multi-deck atrium with an attractive marble grand staircase.
While waiting for the room and luggage, one is welcome to explore the ship. Arriving in time for lunch, we enjoyed the choices in the Oceanview Café buffet located on the pool deck.
Celebrity Infinity Accommodations are Lovely
We were happy to get to our room to relax a bit. Our luggage was waiting for us at our door in a very timely and pleasing manner. The comfortable Veranda room was located on the ninth floor just below the quiet spa area. The room seamlessly transitioned onto the balcony, featuring floor-to-ceiling glass doors. With the overhang from above, this outdoor space made for a perfect place for private outdoor relaxation out of the harsh rays of the sun.
The room of 175 square feet gave enough space for a split king bed that was extremely comfortable, along with a petite loveseat to relax on. Dresser drawers and a closet provided the perfect place to store all our belongings. A very nicely sized bathroom was a welcome surprise.
Unpacking our Biaggi Zipsak bags took only moments as I had neatly organized our clothes in Biaggi Zipcube packing cubes. I just took cubes out of luggage, unzipped them, and place each in drawers for instant unpacking. The Zipsak is the perfect luggage piece for a cruise since, once unpacked, I could fold it up and easily hide it away on a shelf. At the end of our voyage, the Zipsak was ready to be opened and packed once again.
Our porter Hendra was always available, and it was luxurious to not only have makeup service but also to have turndown with chocolate. The bedding and towels were very comfy, and it was a nice extra to have cozy bathrobes and our own mini-fridge. The private safe made me feel secure that my Window Surface and other items were protected.
Cruising the Celebrity Infinity Proved to be a Pleasure
Roaming the ship, it can feel a bit large but not too, as it was easy to maneuver and get used to, proving the Infinity easy to navigate. We enjoyed the nice seating areas we found throughout, providing places to rest, watch the views, and chat.
Along with sitting areas are some very nice lounges that provide Ultimate Disco Cruise guests the place to enjoy watching intimate interviews with entertainers, along with Q&A sessions, and a night of music and dancing. These lounges are perfect places to appreciate a drink and socialize as well.
The pool deck normally features a tiered pool with a shallow option. This cruise accommodated the outdoor concerts performed by disco greats by covering the smaller pool to set up chairs for the audience to take in the music experience. During daytime music performances, guests could also soak in the deeper pool or one of the hot tubs while enjoying the live music.
Lounges are supplied around the pool for optimal sunning while taking in the disco vibes being spun by a DJ or a live treat by such music greats as The Traamps featuring Earl Young. There is an upper sun deck that overlooks the pool with additional lounge chairs.
Sitting by the pool also affords one to try the delights at the Pool Grill, where one can enjoy a hamburger or hot dog, or even a veggie burger, with fries for a late lunch or an afternoon snack.
Seeking a nice place out of the sun but still relishing a pool, then the indoor pool wins overall with tranquil waterfalls and nice hot tubs. Lounge chairs provided in this area have extra comfy padding to induce a nap before getting on the dance floor again.
While the trip had the purpose of enjoying the Ultimate Disco Cruise experience, it was nice to know that there were places to find a quiet break outside of the room. We discovered the lovely library with a nice choice of books to borrow. Our room provided an ultra-quiet respite for a most peaceful sleep - surprisingly so since we expected to hear the all-night revelers carrying on disco fun in corridors.
Celebrity Infinity Meals are Very Enjoyable
Before turning the Celebrity Infinity’s main dining room into a late-night disco club, the two-floor tiered Trellis Restaurant serves a formal breakfast along with dinner every day. A beautiful floor-to-ceiling window makes one feel as if in heaven while dining amid the ocean vista. At dinner time, we were serenaded by a keyboard player and singer with soft disco tunes.
What is truly nice is the opportunity to choose a seating style fitting to personal needs and wants. There are seating options in the Trellis for passengers who prefer a traditional cruise-type dining experience. For those who wish to not dine at a specific time, they were welcome to enjoy a relaxing dinner at the buffet.
While there is a new menu for every day onboard, there is also an anytime menu always offering an enjoyable option for any taste. Anytime choices include escargot and shrimp cocktail appetizers, plus Caesar salad and French onion soup. On the anytime menu for entrees is a nice broiled salmon and New York sirloin. Roast potatoes and steamed vegetables are offered as anytime sides. Chocolate cake, apple pie, and cheesecake are the anytime dessert items offered. A lovely, different sorbet flavor choice was offered each night. The food was delicious - and perfectly prepared for one’s taste.
For those wanting to try a few different tastes, there are some specialty restaurants that offer menus at an extra fee. A menu created by Michelin Star Chef Cornelius Gallagher is offered at Le Petit Chef at Qsine, Tuscan Grille is a delicious Italian Steakhouse, and one will enjoy some sushi at Sushi on Five. In addition, there is Café al Bacio & Gelateria, where one can sit and have a cup of tea or gourmet coffee along with pastries and desserts.
Extra Delights for Relaxation, Shopping, and Play
If dancing the day and night away does not provide enough of a workout on the Ultimate Disco Cruise, then one is welcome at the fully equipped Celebrity Infinity Reflection’s fitness facility. It features a jogging track, sports court, and a full suite of state-of-the-art cardio, core, and weight training equipment for every fitness level.
Whenever taking a cruise, I find it a treat to check out the spa. A perfect place to soothe the Ultimate Disco Cruise’s dancing feet is the Celebrity Infinity’s Canyon Ranch Spa. The spa centers on wellness as it reviews with visitors their lifestyle choices in an effort to reduce stress and feel their best. Massage, Acupuncture, facial’s and an array of services are provided for a fee to give one extra cruise pleasure. In the spa is a beautiful Persian Garden, complete with tropical rain showers and steam to soothe and reinvigorate a tired body.
Of course, shopping can always be a fun way to pass some time. Whether window-shopping or browsing for a specific item, the Emporium is a nice shopping experience with specialty boutiques - including designer items, along with everyday necessities. While browsing the Emporium, take a walk to the art gallery located next door.
Looking for excitement away from the round-the-clock disco entertainment, then it is worth stepping into Fortunes Casino to try your luck. But remember, the best bet is definitely dancing the night away with the best of the disco greats as the Ultimate Disco Cruise turns the Celebrity Infinity into a beautiful club to rival the likes of Studio 54.
